More than 12,200 people have been evacuated from France's Gironde region as more than 1,000 firefighters have continued their perilous battle against the relentless flames on the frontlines.
So too have Spanish firefighters as temperatures soared up to 45.7 degrees celsius due to the blazes.
And in Portugal, a fireplane pilot tragically perished while trying to tame the blazes from above.
Other parts of Europe are not enjoying a reprieve from the scalding heat either.
Temperatures are set to eclipse 40 degrees celsius in Britain, shattering the previous 2019 record of 38.7 degrees celsius.
British health authorities have brought the hot weather alert to the "red" level. This, as even healthy individuals' lives may be put on the line.
Experts say climate change is creating more impending heat waves set to batter various part of the world.
