{O/C} Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, has announced he would not be joining Twitter's board of directors.

He would have become a member of the board had he not withdrawn his decision. But he remains Twitter's largest shareholder, having a 9 percent stake in this company.

Twitter's CEO didn't offer an explanation for this, yet he did say Elon, as a fiduciary of the company, has to act in the best interests of the company as well as its shareholders.

He has been mired in a long-running dispute with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission over his activity on Twitter. Musk and Tesla both agreed in 2018 to each pay 40 million US dollars to settle the case. But his lawyer has contended that the Commission is infringing upon Musk's free spech rights.
