At least 100 people have been killed and 225 others wounded by a suicide bomber who blew himself up inside a mosque in northwest Pakistan on Monday.
Authorities are calling it a result of "security lapses."
Over 300 worshippers had gathered inside the Sunni mosque in the northwestern city of Peshawar for prayers.
That's when the bomber detonated his explosives vest.
The blast blew off part of the roof, which later caved in, trapping scores under the rubble.
More bodies were plucked from the rubble as mourners buried the bombing victims at different graveyards.
Authorities say the attacker appeared to have breached several barricades manned by security forces to get into the compound housing police and counter-terrorism offices.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was seen visiting victims at a hospital in Peshawar and vowed "stern action" against those behind the attack.
Monday's assault on a Sunni mosque inside a police facility was the worst in recent years.
The Pakistan Taliban's commander soon claimed responsibility on Twitter, but a spokesperson later said it was not the group's policy to target mosques, seminaries and religious places.
