COVID variants in India are being studied amid a devastating surge in COVID infections

Scientists in the COVID-battered India are now studying the potentially worrisome variant of the coronavirus which might have caused the recent surge in COVID infections.

This comes after India’s coronavirus deaths crossed a quarter million on Wednesday. It has overloaded the country’s fragile healthcare system.

COVID infections rose to 348,421 in the last 24 hours.

Although the scientists’ work has been hindered by bureaucratic obstacles, the scientists are still racing to study variants in the nation as they suspect the variant might have caused the recent surge in COVID infections.
