Trillions of cicadas are about to emerge as summer approaches.
The University of Maryland entomologists found at least seven cicadas in a yard in the United States.
The cicadas always emerge when winter and spring are over. In Hong Kong, cicadas can be found everywhere due to the hot weather during summer.
They are one of the most noticeable insects in the world as they would form a choir, and the bug chorus is lawnmower loud.
Within days, the weather is expected to become even warmer in the United States, so they are said to come out soon and emerge in 15 states in the U.S., from Indiana to Georgia, and to New York. And they’re already coming out now in mass numbers in Tennessee and North Carolina.
The cicadas will mostly come out at dusk to try to avoid their enemies. They usually try to climb up trees or anything vertical. One off the ground, they shed their skins and try to survive that vulnerable stage before they become dinner to tons of other creatures, including ants, birds, dogs and cats.
