Character actor Lance Reddick dies

Lance Reddick, a character actor often cast as intense, icy and sinister authority figures on TV and film, has died at the age of 60.

His publicist said in a statement the actor died "suddenly" on Friday morning of natural causes.

Born and raised in Baltimore, Reddict was a Yale Universiy drama school graduate.

He's best known for starring in "The Wire" as the strait-laced Lt. Cedric Daniels, where the character was tangled in the messy politics of the Baltimore police Department.

Other films he starred in include "Fringe" and the "John Wick" franchise.

As a character actor, he was often clad in a suit or crisp uniform, playing elegant men of distinction in various films.

Tributes poured in from colleagues and directors who were gutted by his death.

Reddick is survived by his wife, Stephanie Reddick, and his three children.
