Turning to the United States. The CDC yesterday changed course on its masking guidelines, recommending the vaccinated wear masks indoors. This comes as the delta variant is running rampant in the country.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said yesterday that in light of soaring infections due to the Delta variant, indoor masking is recommended for all Americans, regardless of their vaccination status.
Although the Biden's administration's vaccination drive is not going awry, the Delta variant is still running amuck in the country.
That has prompted Biden to consider requiring all federal workers to get vaccinated. His decision came on the heels of the Department of Veterans Affairs' decision to require all the healthcare workers to receive a vaccine.
Some criticised the CDC's new masking guidance, saying it would unnecessarily open up a pandora's box.
Reacting to that criticism, Biden hit back at those who criticised the CDC's decision, saying the unvaccinated is literally letting the virus continue to afflict Americans and play out in the country, and described the unvaccinated as the ones "sowing enormous confusion."
"We have a pandemic because of the unvaccinated, and they're sowing enormous confusion. And the more we learn - the more we learn about this virus and the Delta variation, the more we have to be worried and concerned. And only one thing we know for sure: If those other hundred million people got vaccinated, we'd be in a very different world." Said Biden.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki also defended the CDC's decision, saying CDC data shows the U.S. is now facing a substantial level of coronavirus transmission.
"We have said since the beginning of June that the Delta variant - a rising variant that had increasing - was clear from the beginning had great - a great deal of transmissibility - was a threat to people who were unvaccinated. We did more than a hundred interviews with officials conveying exactly that. And the reality is: We are dealing with a much different strain of this virus than we were even earlier in the spring, back in May, when the masking guidance was done - provided by the CDC at that time." Said Psaki.
Also, the White House announced henceforth, all staff and reporters will be required to wear masks indoors.
As the U.S. continues to take a beating, many Americans still haven't a clue as to when America will successfully stamp out the virus.
The new CDC masking guidance follows recent decisions in Los Angeles and St. Louis to revert to indoor mask mandates applicable to all Americans due to the spike in COVID-19 infections. This, as reverting to indoor mask mandates is considered a methodical approach to eradicating COVID.
Now, every county has a high transmission rate, thanks to the highly contagious Delta variant.
Currently, a majority of the new infections in the country, 97 percent of them continues to be among unvaccinated people, which means another crisis has befallen on the U.S.
The CDC earlier said the Delta variant makes the level of virus in infected vaccinated people indistinguishable.
Be that as it may, having grown weary of anti-virus restrictions, a lot of Americans are against the CDC's decision to revert to indoor mask mandates.
Accounting for 83 percent of the country's COVID infections, the Delta variant is so intense and menacing and has rendered medical centers across the country inundated with COVID patients. So much so, and to make every minute count, the CDC has no choice but to tame the virus via implementing strict anti-virus measures.
