Cat survived condo collapse, reunited with his family

Surfside, Florida - While rescuers have given of their best to search for survivors and those missing in that deadly condominium building collapse in Surfside, Florida, but still not making headway, a family is lost for words tonight as their cat named Binx, who had lived on the 9th floor of the condo complex, was found to have survived that horrific collapse, and reunited with his family.

Miami-Dade County Mayor was equally astonished, and said this small miracle will hopefully provide relief to those who can't express their sorrow using words, "I'm glad that this small miracle could bring some light into the lives of a hurting family today and provide a bright spot for our whole community in the midst of this terrible tragedy." She said.

The mayor mentioned that a volunteer who feeds abandoned cats on the street recognized the cat on a street near the complex and brought the cat to an animal shelter, where it was positively identified.

The co-founder of the Miami Beach cat rescue group, The Kitty Campus, posted a photo of Binx on Facebook. And shortly after the photo was posted on Facebook, one of the survivors of the condo collapse went to the shelter to determine if the cat was her family's cat, and sure enough, it was.

Miami-Dade's Mayor said the reunion happened on Friday, but no further detail about the condition of the family is available as yet.

61 people remain unaccounted for at this juncture.

Meantime, search crews found another body in the rubble, bringing the total number of fatalities to 79.

Having been stuck between a rock and a hard place, officials finally announced that the mission was no longer officially a rescue operation, but a recovery operation aimed at recovering those deceased.

Last Friday (7/9/2021) is now considered one of the most amazing days there since the collapse happened, because it featured a small miracle, which could hopefully bring hope and happiness to those whose family members remain missing, or were found to be deceased.
