{O/C} There were mixed feelings in Kentucky today as a former police officer has been acquitted of wanton endangerment in a raid that left Black woman Breonna Taylor dead.

After a three-hour deliberation, a Jefferson County jury delivered its verdict for Brett Hankison.
The deadly tragedy happened on March 13, 2020, when 45-year-old Hankison raided 26-year-old Breonna Taylor's place in the name of a narcotics investigation. Yet, Hankison was discovered to have not fired any of the bullets that killed the 26-year-old Black woman instantly.
His acquittal appears to leave no doubt that any of the officers involved in this raid will not be charged. But a federal investigation into whether the officers involved violated her civil rights is now underway.
Hankison did not appear outside the courtroom, but his lawyer said both him and Hankison were thrilled.
Louisville Mayor, Greg Fischer, says the verdict only adds to the frustration and furore of many over the authorities' inability to hold the killers accountable.
Right after the incident, which took place in March 2020, protesters took to the streets as they made their demands loud and clear. The protests soon became part of the rallies around the world denouncing racism.
