Harold Baker, the said volunteer firefighter, arrived at the scene only to find that the victims were his own family members.
The children who perished were aged 5, 6 and 7, while the seven deceased adults ranged from their late teens to 79 years old.
Baker said the kids' fun-filled summer visit to their aunt and uncle's place morphed into a terrible tragedy.
A preliminary probe suggests the fire broke out, for reasons stil unknown, on the front porch at 2:30 in the morning Friday and burgeoned in size.
Still, three people were able to flee unscathed.
