U.S. President Joe Biden’s older dog, Champ, has died at the age of 13.

The sad news came as Biden announced on Twitter that “our family lost our loving companion Champ today.”
The beloved canine was brought by the Bidens from a breeder after Biden was elected Vice President in 2008. Champ was a fixture at both the Vice President’s residence at the Naval Observatory and now the White House.
Champ’s passing leaves the Bidens with their younger German shepherd, Major, whom the family adopted from the Delaware Humane Society in 2018.
Champ’s age was shown by his graying fur, slower gait and a more tranquil presence.
The Bidens, meanwhile, are expected to bring a cat to the White House to join the family sometime soon.
