U.S. President Joe Biden has arrived in Canada for talks with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Trudeau, greeted President Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, at Trudeau's residence.
Later today, he and Trudeau will exchange views on challenges such as the war in Ukraine, climate change, trade, mass immigration and the increasing assertiveness of China.
On the mass immigration front, the United States and Canada are expected to announce new asylum rules for migrants.
That deal will plug an existing loophole that allows both countries to turn away asylum seekers at the countries' borders.
That's caused thousands of migrants to cross into Canada annually from the U.S. at a non-official checkpoint.
The talks are also expected to cover military upgrades from Canada.
Then on Friday, President Biden will address the Canadian Parliament.
Earlier in Washington, Biden celebrated the 13th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act.
He called it "the most consequential piece of healthcare legislation" in over a century.
He also singled out Republicans who he said wanted to weaken the law.
