Unlike India, the vaccination rate in the United States is pretty satisfactory, as President Joe Biden announced a more ambitious vaccination goal to deliver at least one shot to 70 percent of adult Americans by July 4.
U.S. President Joe Biden:
You do need to get vaccinated. Even if your chance of getting seriously ill is low, why take the risk? It could save your life or the lives of somebody you love.
Demand for vaccines has dropped off markedly nationwide, with some states leaving more than half their available doses unordered. Biden on Tuesday said his new goal of vaccinating more than 70 percent of American adults is aimed at immunising even more Americans, so as to achieve herd immunity.
As of today, more than 56 percent of American adults have already received at least one dose of the COVID vaccine and nearly 105 million are fully vaccinated.
