Leaders of Thailand and the Philippines skipped the summit as dealing with the coronavirus outbreaks at home is the top priority.
This summit is the first face-to-face meeting by ASEAN leaders in more than a year since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The regional bloc which demanded an end to the killings and release of the detainees in Myanmar is formed by countries including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
