Anonymous customer leaves 16,000-dollar tip at New Hampshire restaurant

An anonymous diner left a $16,000 USD tip on a $38 USD bill at a New Hampshire restaurant is now being lauded for his generosity and kindheartedness. It came amid the pandemic, which has devastated the restaurant industry in the United States.

The tip was left on a bill at the Stumble Inn Bar & Grill in Londonderry, New Hampshire, on June 12.

Restaurant owner Mike Zarella said the man, who would like to remain anonymous, had seemed like a regular diner until he was found to have left that 16,000-dollar tip on the table.

A bartender there, Michelle McCudden, said eight bartenders working there will divvy up the cash. Some money will also be distributed to kitchen workers.

The owner thanked the man for being a good, kindhearted person. He said the restaurant welcomes having steadfast supporters and kindhearted diners like that man.

Bartender Michelle, meanwhile, thanked the kindhearted man for giving them that tip, as it came at a time when everyone is worried if the restaurant will be able to endure this difficult period.

Michelle McCudden, Bartender:

It is just a really rough year for all of us. And for someone to do something like that, really restored my faith in, you know, humanity.
