It was an iconic day in the Ahmaud Arbery murder case, as the three White murderers were sentenced to life in prison, with the father and son denied any chance of parole.

Two years after the callous murder of Ahmaud Arbery, and the three cold-blooded murderers will spend their days behind bars. It was certainly not no-holds-barred for them.

Superior Court Judge Timothy Walmsley said Arbery, whom he portrayed as a young man with dreams, left home for a jog, but ended up fleeing for his life for five minutes, and eventually being killed.

The father and son, Greg and Travis McMichael, were both given a sentence of life for sure without the possibility of parole, in light of their callous demeanour and not expressive of contrition despite having killed someone with malice aforethought.

The same doesn't hold true for neighbour William Bryan, who was also sentenced to life, but still in for a chance of parole.

A huge sigh of relief for Arbery's mother. Be that as it may, the commission of such an execrable murder under the cerulean sky and the murderers showing no guilt are tantamount to an utterly irreversible damage to her heart that will be inimical to her well-being in perpetuity. She also called the murderers liars, having witnessed so many people take the stand in court.

WANDA COOPER-HONES, Ahmaud Arbery's Mother: These men have chosen to lie and attack my son and his surviving family. They each have no remorse and do not deserve any leniency. Son, I love you as much today as I did the day that you were born.

The attorney for the father and son said a mandatory life sentence without parole isn't by any stretch of the imagination a condign punishment. The defence attorneys have all said they plan to appeal the convictions.

Outside the courtroom, Arbery truly instantiates a martyr to racial equality. Justice was served in a case that's baffled the Arbery family. The Arbery family, finally relieved.

The murderers grabbed guns and chased Arbery after spotting him running in their neighbourhood just outside the Georgia port city of Brunswick.

The McMichaels and their neighbour are slated to face a second trial next time over federal hate crime charges because there is word the three men took aim at Arbery all because he was Black.

The guilty verdicts had already been handed down before the end of last year.

The case, coupled with other shootings in which racism is possibly involved, came as a tinderbox loomed large. Anti-racism Americans and people in every nook and cranny of the world frothed at the mouth as many have failed to come to grips with why Black people are often intimidated just because of their race.
